The link below contains a notebook file I developed for a SMART Board review session about the War of 1812 designed for the Grade 7 Ontario curriculum. The second activity features titled images of four of the Major Figures of the War of 1812 (Brock, Tecumseh, de Salaberry, and Secord) and has students drag statements about the figures onto the correct figures image in order to have the statements fade out. This resource is probably best used during a general work or review period. The third activity includes having students identify the winners of, and major figures involved in, four of the principal battles of the War of 1812. This material was developed for Grade 9 Geography students. Unfortunately, since developing the project, the JRP hearings and public submission processes have ended. Students could still submit letters to a federal Cabinet Minister, or decided collectively on another action (e.g., creating an awareness video for YouTube, creating an advocacy website, fundraising for another NGO already involved on the issue, and so on).
